KUCHING: Fifty students and staff of Technology College Sarawak (TCS) had recently joined a trip to discover the ecosystem of Sarawak’s rainforest at Gunung Gading National Park in the Lundu district. The aim of this trip is to create awareness among the students the importance of preserving nature for the future generation.

“This trip gives a beneficial experience to students. At TCS, out-of-class learning is one of our vital learning methods. We want our students to be involved in other activities as well,” said the programme coordinator, Madam Victoria.

She added that learning outside the classroom can have a profound impact in raising the confidence of young people and help them perform well in the classroom environment by bringing their experience into the learning process.

‘Taking learning out of the classroom gives young people of different strengths and learning styles the chance to shine, improve relationships between peers and strengthen student-lecturer relationships. These impacts have a lasting effect both inside the classroom and later on in life,” said Victoria.

Technology College Sarawak (TCS) is an independent private higher-learning institution in Sarawak that provides business programmes in foundation, diploma and degree levels.
